Job Title: Data Engineer - SQL DBA / DV Cleared

Location: Hybrid - London, UK Office / WFH 50-50

Clearance Level: MUST POSSESS ACTIVE DV CLEARANCE

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and DV Cleared Data Engineer with a strong focus on SQL Database Administration to join our dynamic team in supporting the GOV UK Public Sector. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing data infrastructure, ensuring the security and efficiency of databases critical to public service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SQL Database Administration: Manage, monitor, and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
  • Database Design and Development: Collaborate with software developers and analysts to design and develop efficient database structures, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Data Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures to safeguard sensitive data in accordance with DV clearance standards and government security policies.
  • Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance issues through database tuning, query optimization, and other proactive measures.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • ETL Processes: Design and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to facilitate seamless data integration between different systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for databases, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing expertise and support to ensure the successful delivery of data-related projects.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • DV Clearance: Must possess DV (Developed Vetting) Clearance, allowing access to sensitive government information.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on SQL Database Administration.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL Server, T-SQL, and related database technologies. Familiarity with other database platforms is a plus.
  • Security Awareness: In-depth understanding of data security principles and experience implementing security measures in accordance with government standards.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute effectively to project goals.
