The Role:

We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) Engineer to join our IT team and contribute to the optimisation, security, and reliability of our database systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Database Administration:
    • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances in various environments.
    • Design and implement database structures to meet application and business requirements.
    • Collaborate with development teams to ensure optimal database performance.
  2. Security Management:
    • Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
    • Administer user access, permissions, and roles to ensure proper data governance.
  3. Backup and Recovery:
    • Develop and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss.
    • Perform regular database backups and test recovery procedures.
  4. Performance Tuning:
    • Monitor database performance for efficient data retrieval.
    • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and query execution plans.
  5. Monitoring and Maintenance:
    • Conduct routine monitoring of database health and proactively address issues.
    • Execute regular maintenance tasks and updates to ensure system stability.
  6. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
    • Implement and manage high availability solutions, such as clustering and replication.
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical database systems.
  7. Troubleshooting:
    • Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including connectivity and performance problems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve system-related incidents.
  8. Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of database design.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimisation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
