This role at Amber Labs is a permanent position working within a Secure Public Sector environment. All employees for this purpose are required to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), SC and DV Eligible criteria. As such, consideration limited to candidates that are – sole British Citizens & Passport holders, not dual Nationals or anyone requiring sponsorship or holding a visa of any type


The Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you will play a vital role in analyzing large datasets, developing data models, and extracting actionable insights to drive data-driven decision-making. Ideally, looking for Large Language Model (LLM) and Public Sector experience deploying services in live environment. Competitive candidates will have a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques, as well as expertise in cloud platforms and DevOps tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop and implement data pipelines and ETL processes for extracting, transforming, and loading data from multiple sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Utilize cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to deploy and manage scalable data infrastructure.
  • Implement DevOps practices, including version control, continuous integration, and continuous deployment using tools like GitHub, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Packer, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud resources.
  • Work with big data processing frameworks such as Databricks and PySpark for large-scale data processing and analysis.
  • Perform advanced SQL queries and develop data pipelines using Python and Bash Shell scripts.
  • Administer and maintain Unix and Linux-based systems, specifically RedHat and CentOS.
  • Collaborate on distributed computing frameworks like Apache Hadoop and Spark.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred
  • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or Data Scientist, with a strong understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning concepts.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as EC2, S3, RDS, CodeCommit, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, ECS, Glue, and EMR.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, including Data Factory, Data Lake, and Synapse.
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its various services.
    Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with tools like GitHub, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Packer, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
